Job Description

We are partnering with a highly successful and growing Real Estate organization to identify a Vice President of Financial Accounting to lead a complex, multi-entity accounting function. The Vice President of Financial Accounting will oversee corporate accounting, property-level accounting, development accounting, consolidations, technical accounting, and financial reporting across a diverse portfolio of businesses and legal entities. This individual will work closely with executive leadership and play a key role in strengthening processes, internal controls, and the overall finance infrastructure of the organization.
Responsibilities:
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. Oversee consolidated financial reporting for corporate entities, operating companies, development projects, and property-level entities. Prepare and review internal financial statements and reporting packages for executive leadership, lenders, ownership groups, and joint venture partners. Manage intercompany transactions, eliminations, and balance sheet reconciliations across a complex ownership structure. Ensure all financial statements are prepared in accordance with GAAP. Oversee complex accounting matters including revenue recognition under ASC 606, reserve models, lease accounting, bond accounting, impairment analyses, and other technical accounting areas. Develop technical accounting memos and position papers related to complex accounting issues and new pronouncements. Lead annual impairment reviews for long-lived assets and document accounting conclusions. Drive completion of the annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors. Evaluate and enhance accounting systems, ERP platforms, and reporting tools to improve efficiency and scalability. Ensure strong internal controls are in place to support compliance, risk mitigation, and investor reporting requirements. Partner closely with accounting, finance, operations, and executive leadership teams across the organization. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA designation required. 15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership within a complex real estate environment. Strong background in real estate accounting, including property accounting, development accounting, and consolidations. Deep knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, technical accounting, and internal controls. Experience with ASC 606, lease accounting, impairment testing, and complex accounting models. Proven ability to lead and develop teams in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment. Public accounting experience is a plus. #AF123
