Hodge Company is a growing specialty construction contractor serving K-12 schools, universities, municipalities, and recreation facilities throughout the Southeast and Midwest. Founded in 1972, we provide and install athletic equipment, bleachers and grandstands, lockers, synthetic turf, track systems, gym flooring, sports courts, and other specialty construction products. We are seeking an experienced Construction Controller to lead our accounting and financial-control functions and provide ownership with accurate, timely financial information to support continued growth. The Opportunity This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands construction accounting and can operate beyond simply producing financial statements. The Controller will be responsible for maintaining strong financial controls, improving the accuracy and timeliness of our reporting, managing cash-flow visibility, overseeing WIP and job-cost accounting, and helping leadership understand the financial performance of the company and individual projects. The ideal candidate is comfortable working directly with ownership, operations, project management, estimating, and accounting. Key Responsibilities Lead day-to-day accounting and financial reporting functions Produce accurate monthly financial statements and management reports Drive an efficient and disciplined monthly closing process Maintain and review WIP schedules Oversee percentage-of-completion and construction revenue recognition Monitor project profitability, job costs, committed costs, margins, and cost-to-complete projections Identify margin erosion and financial risks before they become larger problems Review overbillings, underbillings, retainage, A/R, A/P, and collections Develop and maintain a 13-week cash-flow forecast Monitor company cash position, working capital, and line-of-credit utilization Assist leadership with annual budgets, forecasts, and financial planning Work with Project Managers to improve project financial accountability Maintain appropriate internal accounting controls and procedures Coordinate with outside CPA, tax advisors, banks, bonding companies, insurance providers, and other financial partners Support annual financial reviews, audits, tax preparation, and compliance requirements Manage and develop accounting department personnel Improve financial reporting, processes, dashboards, and controls as the company continues to grow Maintain accurate financial information within Acumatica ERP Provide the President and executive leadership team with clear financial analysis and recommendations

What We're Looking For Required:

7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting Strong Excel and financial-analysis skills Experience managing monthly close and financial statements Demonstrated ability to build financial controls and improve accounting processes Strong communication and leadership skills Ability to work directly with ownership and operational leaders High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail

Strongly Preferred:

Construction or specialty-contractor accounting experience Experience with WIP reporting and percentage-of-completion accounting Experience with job costing and project financial analysis Experience with construction A/R, retainage, over/under billings, and collections Experience with cash-flow forecasting Experience with Acumatica or another construction ERP CPA, CMA, or equivalent accounting background What Success Looks Like The successful Controller will help H.E.
