Job Description

Assistant Controller Position Summary Our client is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to partner directly with the Controller in leading and scaling the accounting function within a growing organization. This newly created leadership role will oversee daily accounting operations, own the month-end close process, strengthen internal controls, and help drive process improvements across the finance department. This position offers strong visibility, leadership responsibility, and long-term growth potential within the organization. Key Responsibilities Lead daily accounting operations and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls Own and execute the month-end close process with accurate and timely reporting Review and approve journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules Maintain full balance sheet integrity through reconciliation and documentation Oversee payroll processing, payroll tax filings, and related compliance Manage tax-related accounting processes including sales/use tax, payroll tax, and property tax Partner with Billing Manager to ensure billing accuracy and revenue reconciliation Support audit preparation and lender reporting requirements Perform account analyses and resolve financial discrepancies Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting initiatives Develop and maintain accounting processes, SOPs, and internal controls Drive process improvement and accounting transformation initiatives Analyze financial results and provide actionable insights to leadership Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field CPA preferred 8+ years of progressive accounting experience 5+ years of accounting leadership/management experience Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls Experience with payroll, capital assets, and inventory accounting preferred Advanced Excel and ERP systems experience Compensation & Benefits Competitive base salary Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with up to 3% company match Flexible Spending Account options Professional development opportunities Strong long-term growth potential
