Title of Position - Special Assistant to the Vice President for
Financial Innovation Position Overview:
We seek a versatile finance professional to support the VP for Financial Innovation in managing budgeting, financial reporting, compliance, and strategic initiatives. This role requires strong analytical skills, financial expertise, and a proactive approach to identifying solutions and improving processes to enhance operational efficiency.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist with financial planning, budgeting, and reporting aligned with the college's mission and resource constraints. Support accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, month-end close activities, internal controls, and compliance with nonprofit and higher education standards. Lead or contribute to financial projects and process improvements. Assist in developing and communicating financial policies and best practices tailored to the college's operational needs. Lead or support financial projects that cross academic, administrative, and auxiliary units, fostering collaboration and efficiency. Represent the VP for Financial Innovation in select meetings, ensuring clear communication and follow-through.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 5+ years of experience in finance or accounting, preferably in higher education or nonprofit Knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting, and financial systems Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA or relevant certification Experience in small college or liberal arts settings
