Director of Finance:
Dixon, IL Our client is seeking an experienced Director of Finance to join their well-established manufacturing organization and serve as the company's senior financial leader. This position will oversee the accounting and finance functions while partnering closely with executive leadership to strengthen financial performance, improve profitability, and support strategic business decisions . The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of financial leadership, manufacturing accounting, and operational business acumen.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership & Reporting Lead the accounting and finance functions, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, financial close processes, general ledger accuracy, and financial statement integrity. Analyze financial performance and clearly communicate trends, risks, opportunities, and areas requiring action to senior leadership. Partner with company leadership to evaluate financial and operational decisions and provide actionable recommendations that improve business performance. Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Analysis Lead annual budgeting and maintain forecasts for revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, EBITDA, cash flow, and capital requirements. Analyze actual performance against budgets, forecasts, and prior-year results, identifying and explaining significant variances. Develop financial models, KPIs, and management reporting to support pricing, capital investments, staffing, and other business decisions. Manufacturing & Cost Accounting Oversee product costing and manufacturing cost accounting, including standard costs and labor, material, and overhead allocations and variances. Partner with Operations, Purchasing, Engineering, and Sales to improve cost and margin visibility and provide product, customer, and product-line profitability analysis. Oversee inventory valuation and reconciliation, monitor excess and obsolete inventory, and provide accurate cost and margin information to support pricing decisions. Cash Flow, Controls & Compliance Oversee cash flow, liquidity, working capital, accounts receivable/payable, customer credit and collections, and banking relationships. Develop and maintain financial policies, internal controls, approval processes, and segregation of duties while identifying opportunities for process improvement. Coordinate annual audits and tax requirements while overseeing fixed assets, capital expenditures, ROI analysis, and financial aspects of business insurance programs. Systems & Team Leadership Ensure effective utilization and accuracy of ERP and financial reporting systems while developing standardized reports, dashboards, and process automation. Lead, manage, coach, and develop the Finance team while establishing clear expectations, accountability, cross-training, and appropriate departmental structure. Partner with department leaders to improve financial information and promote accuracy, urgency, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Skills & Experience :
Education :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting , Finance, Business Administration, or related field, required ; CPA, CMA, and/ or MBA preferred
Experience :
7+ years of progressive accounting & financial experience, required ; in a manufacturing environment, preferred
Knowledge:
C ost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, audits, financial planning, required
