Job Description
The Vice President for Student Services (VPSS) provides executive leadership for a comprehensive, student-centered division that supports enrollment, engagement, retention, and completion across the College. The VPSS is responsible for the planning, development, and administration of all student services functions and ensures alignment with institutional priorities. This position oversees a multi-unit division including enrollment management, advising, financial aid, registrar, recruiting, student engagement, TRIO, counseling, testing, and related services across multiple campuses. The VPSS leads strategic enrollment management efforts, student success initiatives, program development, personnel evaluation, and budget planning, with a focus on improving student access, persistence, and completion.
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Provide executive leadership and coordination for a comprehensive system of integrated, student-centered services, including advising, counseling, disability services, student engagement, dual credit, recruitment, financial aid, registrar, TRIO, testing, and related programs. Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a data-informed Strategic Enrollment Management Plan aligned with the College's mission and goals. Drive institutional strategies to increase enrollment, retention, and completion using data, predictive analytics, and student success technologies. Design, implement, and assess comprehensive recruitment and retention strategies, including outreach to schools, communities, and workforce partners. Ensure effective use of student information systems, CRM platforms, and advising technologies to support student success and operational efficiency. Plan, develop, and evaluate new and existing student support programs in collaboration with internal departments and external partners. Ensure all Student Services programs and operations align with district-wide initiatives and institutional priorities. Provide leadership for commencement and other major student-centered institutional events. Provide for the recruitment, assignment, supervision, and evaluation of staff in accordance with College policies and in collaboration with Human Resources. Develop, manage, and monitor the Student Services operating budget and ensure effective allocation of resources. Prepare required state and federal reports and ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations related to student services, including student conduct, Title IX, and student rights and responsibilities. Oversee the student complaint process and ensure fair, consistent, and timely resolution. Maintain responsibility for the Student Handbook and applicable sections of the College Catalog. Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with K-12 districts, community organizations, and workforce partners to expand access and strengthen enrollment pipelines. Participate in campus and College-wide committees and provide leadership for institutional initiatives and special projects. Establish annual goals for Student Services and prepare reports that assess outcomes and progress. Develop, implement, and review policies and procedures related to Student Services. Work with the College Foundation and grant personnel to identify and pursue funding opportunities that support student success initiatives. Actively represent the College in community and professional organizations. Earned doctorate from an accredited institution or a master's degree with at least 5 years director level or above experience in student affairs or student services at a community college. Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible administrative experience in student services or a related area. Demonstrated success in enrollment management, student success initiatives, and program development. Experience leading teams, managing budgets, and aligning resources to strategic priorities. Experience using data, student information systems, and technology to inform decision-making and improve outcomes. Experience with student conduct, Title IX, and regulatory compliance preferred. Experience in a community college environment preferred. Experience in a collective bargaining environment preferred. Experience in a multi-campus environment preferred. Demonstrated leadership in strategic planning, change management, and continuous improvement. Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.TYPE OF SUPERVISION GIVEN TO OTHERS
: Provides direct and indirect supervision to the Dean for Student Services, Dean for Enrollment Management, and other directors, managers, and staff within the Student Services division.OVERALL ACOUNTIBILITIES
