Job Description:
Controller -Nonprofit Our client, a growing, mission-driven organization is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting and financial reporting function. This role will partner closely with senior leadership to ensure strong financial oversight, compliance, and operational support across a multi-program environment. This is a hands-on leadership position with visibility to executive leadership and the Board, offering the opportunity to influence financial strategy while overseeing day-to-day accounting operations.
Responsibilities:
Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, A/P, A/R, and month-end close Prepare and deliver timely financial statements and reports to leadership Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements Manage accounting and reporting for complex funding streams, including government-related funding Lead cost allocation methodologies across multiple programs or business lines Coordinate annual audit processes and serve as primary point of contact for external auditors Supervise and develop a team of accounting professionals Partner with operational leaders on budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance Support senior leadership with financial analysis and strategic decision-making Identify and implement process improvements and strengthen internal controls
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred) Ten plus years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility Experience working in complex, multi-entity or multi-program environments Strong knowledge of financial reporting and compliance requirements Passionate about mission driven organizations Experience with audits and regulated funding environments preferred Advanced Excel skills; experience with mid-to-large ERP systems a plus Proven ability to lead teams and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders
