at APL Engineered Materials, Inc. in Urbana, Illinois, United States Job Description APL Engineered Materials, Inc. is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to oversee the accounting and finance functions for our Urbana, Illinois facility. This position is responsible for financial reporting, accounting operations, internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. The Controller will work closely with operations and other functional areas to support business objectives and identify opportunities to improve financial processes and performance. Responsibilities Accounting Operations & Controls Oversee accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes, including balance sheet reconciliations and support of external audits. Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, vendor payments, customer collections, and related financial activities. Prepare financial statements through the local ERP system and load financial results into Hyperion Financial Management. Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and eliminate non-value-added activities. Maintain and enforce effective internal controls and accounting procedures. Financial Reporting & Analysis Analyze monthly operating results, including sales, gross margins, inventory levels, and other key financial metrics. Perform profitability analyses for products, services, and projects. Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts, including balance sheet and cash flow forecasting. Partner with manufacturing to review productivity, overhead performance, standard cost variances, and KPI scorecards. Work with department leaders to identify opportunities for operational and financial improvement. Perform other duties as assigned.
