full-time Assistant Controller Our client is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their growing finance team. We are ideally seeking someone with corporate accounting and managerial experience that is commutable full-time in office, 5days onsite, to La Grange, Illinois. The compensation is $110K-$125K base + bonus. Responsibilities Build and lead a high-performing team by hiring, onboarding, and developing talent; oversee performance and foster continuous growth Develop quarterly operating and cash flow forecasts, and conduct financial analysis as directed by the Controller Oversee the accounting function, stepping in on day-to-day general ledger entries and sales commission processes as needed Review and manage balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring bank accounts are reconciled accurately and on time Collaborate with the accounting team to formalize policies, procedures, and internal controls to mitigate fraud risk Ensure the integrity of financial reporting, including preparation of consolidated financial statements where applicable Manage disbursement processes and controls, as well as debt reporting and lender covenant compliance Mentor and support team members through coaching, training, and professional development initiatives Coordinate with an external valuation firm to assess the fair value of retained mortgage servicing rights (MSRs) Analyze and interpret legal agreements (such as MLPAs, AMAs, and forward purchase/sale agreements) to determine proper accounting treatment Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline At least 5 years of experience in finance, including general ledger accounting, month-end close, and treasury/disbursement functions Minimum 2 years of experience in treasury operations, loan funding, corporate banking, or a similar finance area At least 2 years of leadership experience managing teams Mortgage industry experience preferred (2+ years) Familiarity with systems such as Encompass (LOS), NetSuite (general ledger), and document management platforms strongly preferred Solid knowledge of bank account management, cash flow oversight, and treasury operations Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
