Director of Finance About the Role We are seeking an experienced Controller to join our team in a highly visible, audit-focused role. This Controller position will play a critical part in supporting an ongoing audit and acting as the primary liaison with an external CPA firm. The ideal Controller is detail-oriented, highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This Controller role is heavily involved in audit preparation and execution, making it ideal for a professional with a strong background in accounting and audit coordination. The Controller will work closely with leadership and external auditors to ensure accurate, timely, and complete financial reporting. Key Responsibilities Audit Leadership & CPA Firm Coordination (Primary Focus) Serve as the main point of contact between the company and the external CPA firm Lead audit preparation efforts, including gathering and organizing required documentation Pull financial reports and supporting data from accounting systems Respond to auditor requests and ensure timely follow-up Assist in establishing processes and workflows for a first-year audit engagement Financial Reporting & Analysis Prepare audit schedules and ad hoc financial reports Utilize Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) to analyze and present data Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records during audit review Operational Accounting Support Oversee and organize accounting communications, including high-volume email management Assist with day-to-day accounting priorities as needed during audit cycle Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather required financial informationQualifications Required:
Proven experience as a Controller or in a senior accounting role with audit exposure Strong background supporting or leading audits with external CPA firms Proficiency in accounting systems (QuickBooks Online preferred) Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs required) Strong organizational and communication skillsPreferred:
CPA designation (not required) Experience in first-time audit environments Work Environment & Culture High-accountability environment with a strong emphasis on punctuality and performance Collaborative team with daily communication and leadership interaction Casual dress code Ideal Candidate The ideal Controller is proactive, communicative, and comfortable operating under tight deadlines. This Controller should be confident working directly with auditors and leadership while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
