This role is focused on maintaining accurate financial reporting, supporting day-to-day accounting functions, overseeing payroll processing, and ensuring compliance across multiple entities. The ideal candidate will come from a construction, contracting, service, or project-based accounting environment and be comfortable balancing strategic financial oversight with hands-on operational responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Oversee financial reporting for multiple companies, ensuring financial statements are accurate, current, and completed on a timely basis. Lead month-end close activities, review P&L and balance sheet reporting, and provide financial insights to ownership. Support and oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable staff, ensuring daily accounting operations continue to run smoothly and efficiently. Review and approve AP transactions, check runs, and cash disbursements while maintaining strong internal controls. Manage weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely direct deposit funding. Review labor allocations, job costing, and payroll data for field employees working across various projects and cost codes. Ensure compliance with multi-state payroll tax requirements, union reporting, and other recurring governmental filings. Requirements Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager experience. Hands-on experience with financial reporting, payroll, and accounting operations. Construction, contracting, service, or project-based accounting experience required. Strong understanding of job costing and project profitability reporting. Experience with ERP/accounting systems; Foundation Software experience highly preferred. Multi-state payroll tax and compliance experience. Ability to work onsite in LaPorte, IN.
