Position Overview:
SoundTube Entertainment is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to play a key role in managing and optimizing the company's financial operations. This position will oversee accounting processes, ensuring financial accuracy, and driving efficiencies through report automation and inventory management. The ideal candidate has experience working in multi-subsidiary accounting, a strong background in NetSuite ERP, and a proven ability to lead teams and streamline accounting functions. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to contribute to process improvements and financial strategy. This is a build-and-own role, not a maintain-what-exists role. The finance function is midway through a structural rebuild: prior-period cleanup is underway, and the close calendar, reconciliation schedule, and written rules for the transaction cycles and intercompany process are being established now. The right person is comfortable operating without finished infrastructure in the near term, helps build it, and then runs it with a high degree of independence.
Key Responsibilities:
Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close across all entities: maintain the close calendar and checklist, assign and track close tasks, and drive the close to completion on schedule, with the Controller reviewing and approving. Build and maintain the accrual and prepaid schedules that support the close and prepare the recurring and non-recurring journal entries that flow from them. Assemble and maintain the close tie-out binder so that every reported balance traces to supporting documentation. Help stand up the formal close structure itself. The close checklist, task assignments, accrual and prepaid schedules, and tie-out package are being designed now, in parallel with a cleanup of prior-period activity. The person in this role will help build these alongside the Controller and then own them going forward. Reconcile every balance sheet account, every month, on a published schedule with a documented preparer and reviewer for each account. Prepare reconciliations directly or supervise their preparation; the Controller signs off on the risk accounts — cash, inventory, intercompany, accrued liabilities, and equity. Perform and review bank, credit card, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and balance sheet reconciliations, and investigate discrepancies. Clear reconciling items rather than carrying them forward; research the underlying cause, correct the root issue, and document the resolution. Hold the line on entry quality — correct account classification, correct direction, payments linked to invoices — and catch errors before they reach the Controller. Manage day-to-day accounting activities for multiple separate companies, maintaining accurate and timely financial records for each entity. Perform hands-on general ledger accounting, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, intercompany transactions, and account reconciliations. Maintain accurate books and records within NetSuite, ensuring transactions are properly coded, recorded, and allocated to the appropriate entity, department, property, or project. Review financial transactions and supporting documentation for accuracy, proper classification, and compliance with company accounting policies. Maintain organized, audit-ready accounting records and supporting documentation for each company Process and/or oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable activity, ensuring invoices, payments, collections, and deposits are accurately recorded and properly supported.
Own payroll accounting:
GL mapping, cost center structure, and the allocation and billback of payroll across entities. Own cash application discipline. Payments are matched to the correct invoice, at the correct entity, at the time of receipt. Preventing misapplied payments from re-entering the subledgers is a core accountability of this role. Assist with cash management, including bank activity, cash reconciliations, payment processing, and monitoring cash balances across multiple entities. Operate within — and help document — written rules for each transaction cycle, so the process holds regardless of who is performing it. Run routine monthly intercompany activity inside documented rules: intercompany billings, netting, management fees, and manufacturing billbacks. Manage due-to/due-from balances, intercompany charges, and allocations, reconciling them between entities every month so the intercompany accounts agree and stay agreed. Work with the Controller to finalize the intercompany rules currently being written, then operate the monthly cycle within them. Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow information, and supporting schedules. Produce the monthly reporting package and variance commentary, and maintain the standing reporting trackers, so the Controller's time is spent interpreting results rather than assembling them. Support the Controller with annual audits, tax preparation, lender reporting, insurance requests, and other external financial requirements. Develop and improve accounting processes, controls, reconciliations, and reporting procedures to increase accuracy and efficiency, and document them as written desk procedures. Identify accounting discrepancies, research underlying causes, and resolve issues proactively. Leverage Claude and other AI tools to improve accounting workflows, research accounting questions, analyze financial data, automate repetitive tasks, and enhance reporting efficiency, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and financial controls. Work extensively across multiple accounting, property-management, banking, payroll, expense-management, and reporting platforms, learning and integrating new software as business needs evolve. Serve as a hands-on resource for accounting questions and provide day-to-day support to other team members and departments. Manage competing deadlines across multiple entities while maintaining a high level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail. Perform other accounting, financial analysis, and administrative duties as needed to support the Controller and the overall finance function
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. (preferred)
  • 2+ years of accounting or finance experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or assistant controller role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and compliance.
  • Experience with NetSuite ERP (required or preferred, depending on hiring needs).
  • Proven expertise in accounts payable, report automation, and inventory management.
  • Hands-on experience with multi-subsidiary accounting and financial consolidations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • CPA or progress toward CPA certification is a plus. Why SoundTube Entertainment?
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • Work with a dynamic, passionate, and creative team.
