Job Description

Director of Finance for Thoroughbred Hospitality Group | Lexington, KY | Full-Time Lead the Financial Engine Behind a Growing Hotel Portfolio — In the Heart of the Bluegrass THG is a vertically integrated hospitality firm that develops, builds, and operates high-value hotels in partnership with globally recognized brands. Our management teams give us a rare one-stop-shop model — and it means the person in this seat isn't just closing the books, they're helping shape how a growing portfolio scales. We're looking for a hands-on finance leader who wants real ownership: a seat at the table on budgeting, capital planning, and acquisitions, direct partnership with GMs and ownership, and the chance to build (not just maintain) financial infrastructure as we grow. Why This Role? Scope, not just tasks. You'll help own and mold the full financial picture across a multi-property portfolio — reporting, cash, controls, and strategy — not one narrow lane. A seat at the leadership table. You'll train GMs on P&L literacy, partner directly with senior leadership, and support acquisitions and due diligence as the company grows. Room to build. As the portfolio expands, you'll have real influence over the systems, controls, and processes that scale with it. Bluegrass life, real career. Horse country, bourbon country, and a growing hospitality scene — all in a role that still puts you in the room for major financial decisions. What You'll Do Financial Reporting & Accounting Own all hotel accounting functions — general ledger, AP, AR, cash management (oversee AP Associate) Lead month-end and year-end close across multiple properties Review trial balances and balance sheet reconciliations Prepare consolidated financials in compliance with U.S. GAAP and REIT reporting standards Host monthly PL Calls with existing teams. Strategic Finance, Budgeting & Cash Flow Lead the annual budgeting process alongside GMs and senior leadership Manage corporate cash flow, liquidity forecasting, and debt service planning Analyze RevPAR, ADR, occupancy, and flow-through trends to guide decisions Build and maintain CapEx plans, reserves, and long-range financial models Internal Controls, Compliance & Risk Design and audit internal controls across all properties Ensure compliance with tax law, franchise agreements, and management contracts Coordinate external audits, banking relationships, and tax filings Manage debt covenant reporting for financed assets Leadership & Partnership Mentor and develop the corporate accounting team Coach Hotel GMs on P&L management and financial literacy Support investor relations, acquisitions, and due diligence What You Bring Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (MBA or Master's in Accountancy a plus) CPA or CHAE strongly preferred but not required. Solid grounding in USALI and hotel-specific accounting practices Comfort with hospitality ERP and PMS systems Advanced Excel skills — pivot tables, macros, financial modeling A leadership style that GMs and ownership alike can trust Willingness to be based in or relocate to Lexington, KY; up to 20% travel Compensation & Benefits Competitive base salary 401(k) with company match Paid time off + holidays Hotel stay discounts across the world About THG Thoroughbred Hospitality Group is a vertically integrated, turn-key hospitality firm developing and operating high-value hotels through partnerships with globally recognized brands.
