We are a premier distributor of janitorial supplies and equipment for the state of Kentucky and Southern Indiana with a long-standing reputation for service and expertise in our industry. Kenway is currently looking for a assistant controller to add to our executive team. The assistant controller will work closely with the controller to lead and oversee our accounting and HR departments. The individual for this role needs to posses the skills and mindset to potentially move into the controller position in the future. This position includes a competitive salary and benefits package and will include the following essential duties:
  • Leads and oversees accounting department accuracy and efficiency
  • Ensure the company complies with financial regulations
  • Facilitates monthly reconciliations and closing
  • Serves as a liaison between all banking representatives, auditors, tax representatives, CPA
  • Prepares financial statements for necessary parties (creditors, partners, owners, etc.)
  • Facilitates and oversees proper payroll processing
  • Analyzes monthly financials for suggestions on better procedures, reduced costs, etc.
  • Facilitates and helps with the yearly budgeting process
  • Responsible for new employee onboarding regarding company benefits
  • Oversee and analyze company benefits with owners input regarding annual renewals
  • Responsible for internal controls to help ensure that there is no theft or embezzlement
Position Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in progressing Accounting and Financial roles with managerial experience in an organization
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in finance or accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Eligible candidate not required
  • Experience in a public accounting firm preferred but not required
  • Experience in a Small Business environment required Expected hours: Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm most weeks.
Occasional weekend work may be necessary during busy times
