full-time We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead the accounting function for a growing manufacturing organization. This individual will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations, monthly close, financial reporting, and management of the accounting team. The ideal candidate is both a strong people leader and a hands-on accounting professional who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves and working alongside the team. This role will also provide financial analysis and decision support to management, with particular value placed on experience in a manufacturing environment and cost/inventory accounting. Key Responsibilities Lead, manage, and develop the accounting team while maintaining a hands-on role in the day-to-day accounting function. Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. Oversee general ledger activity, account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and other core accounting functions. Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reporting. Establish and maintain strong accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Partner with operations, purchasing, and other departments to ensure accurate financial information and effective controls. Oversee and/or participate directly in inventory accounting, costing, and reconciliation activities. Analyze manufacturing costs, inventory variances, margins, and other key financial metrics. Provide financial analysis and reporting to support management decision-making and business planning. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities. Coordinate with external auditors, tax professionals, and other outside advisors as needed. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, controls, and overall efficiency. Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies. Support the leadership team with ad hoc financial analysis and projects. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role. Manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience managing and developing an accounting team. Strong understanding of the month-end close process and financial reporting. Experience with cost accounting, inventory accounting, standard costing, or manufacturing variances strongly preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn financial information into actionable insights. Excellent attention to detail and a high level of ownership and accountability. Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP/accounting systems. Ability to balance leadership responsibilities with hands-on execution. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both finance and operational teams.
