The Financial Controller is a senior accounting manager who oversees a company's financial records, budgets, and reporting. Competencies Ability to prepare accurate financial statements, balance accounts, and manage ledger systems in line with Accounting guidelines. Deep understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), internal controls, and specific public-sector or nonprofit regulations Ability to investigate budget shortfalls, reconcile transaction discrepancies, and correct financial irregularities. Financial Reporting:
prepares accurate financial statements, balance sheets and income statements in compliance with regulatory and accounting standards. o Auditing and Compliance manages internal and external audits, ensuring adherence to financial laws, regulations and institutional policies. o
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Monitors budget compliance, reviews expenditures, and develops revenue and expense forecasts to guide leadership decisions. o
Account Reconciliation:
Balances ledger accounts, oversees accounts payable and receivable, and manages general ledger maintenance. o Ensures that expenses are in line with projected revenue o Manage A/R and A/P personnel, processing and internal controls o Evaluate and improve accounting processes, systems, and workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness o Coordinate audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting requirements o All other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications Education:
A bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, finance, or public administration. Masters preferred.
Certifications:
Professional credentials such as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or in the process of obtaining. Required Knowledge Strong analytical skills and business judgment to provide general financial support to the business Experience preparing financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Supports Y/E physical inventories and reconciliation 5+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience. Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls. Experience developing and maintaining internal controls and accounting policies.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
