Owner(s) / General Manager Position Summary Sandyland Farms is seeking a financial controller to oversee all financial and accounting operations of the farm and related entities, ensuring financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and strategic financial planning. This role combines hands-on accounting responsibilities with financial leadership to support efficient farm operations and long-term sustainability. Financial Management & Strategy Develop and manage annual budgets, cash flow forecasts, and long-term financial plans Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to improve profitability Monitor profitability by enterprise Support capital investment decisions, financing strategies, and risk management Accounting & Financial Reporting Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP and agricultural accounting standards Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger Use QuickBooks accounting software for general ledger management, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting Track fixed assets, depreciation, inventory, and cost of production Regulatory Compliance & Government Reporting Coordinate farm tax preparation and planning (income, payroll, sales/use, and property taxes) Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including USDA, FSA, and lender requirements Maintain records for conservation programs, grants, subsidies, and environmental compliance Serve as the primary financial contact for FSA offices, auditors, lenders, and regulatory agencies Cash Flow & Financing Manage banking relationships, loans, lines of credit, and government financing programs Prepare financial documentation for lenders and FSA program participation Monitor working capital and seasonal cash flow requirements Operations & Internal Controls Establish and maintain internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial policies Track and analyze costs for inputs including seed, fertilizer, labor, fuel, equipment, and etc. Work closely with farm managers to improve cost control and operational efficiency Leadership & Communicatio n Act as a financial advisor to ownership and farm management Supervise or support bookkeeping and administrative staff as needed Communicate financial and regulatory information clearly to non-financial stakeholders Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Agricultural Economics, or related field Minimum 5 years of accounting or financial management experience (agriculture preferred) Strong understanding of farm accounting practices and agricultural compliance(preferred) Demonstrated experience using QuickBooks for general ledger, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel Compensation & Benefits Competitive compensation based on experience.
