Job Description

At AVA Milan Metal Systems (MMS) , our we manufacture stampings and welding components to customer specifications in accordance with safety, quality, and productivity standards. We assembly many of these and other components for many of our customers. The Plant Controller will serve as the hands-on financial lead and sole accounting professional for the Milan manufacturing facility (~$75M in annual revenue). The Plant Controller is responsible for (1) the timeliness, accuracy, and propriety of financial information; (2) the improvement of processes and procedures and the organization of responsibilities to eliminate waste and maximize value-added in the department; and (3) the development of analyses and initiatives to support Operations and advance financial objectives. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented, technically strong manufacturing controller who thrives in a hands-on environment, owns the work personally, and brings strong process discipline to a mature plant operating through an active product launch.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares accurate and timely monthly financial statements, and other analyses for management's use in developing corporate strategy and judging corporate performance. Producing monthly forecasts in conjunction with Plant Management team. Analyze month to date data to create weekly forecast updates for Management on the direction of the current month's results in relation to budget and forecast. Perform all cost accounting activities including standard costing, BOMs, routings, absorption, and variance analysis. Analyzes and improves accounting processes and procedures for time and cost effectiveness, for elimination of waste and non-value steps, and for a better product. Develops an understanding of operational issues and challenges to maximize the departments support of Operations efforts and corporate initiatives. Maintain inventory valuation, cycle count reconciliation, and inventory reserves. Assist in physical inventory counts and variance analysis. Assist with bank, public accounting, and governmental auditors and for collateral reporting required by the bank. Review plant purchase orders and AP transactions to ensure they follow company guidelines and for reasonableness. Other duties as requested.
STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from a reputable university; Master's Degree with Accounting and/or Finance and/or CPA certification preferred. 7 years of experience in accounting - preferably in an automotive and manufacturing setting.
