Atmosphere is that of a small business with local roots and a hands-on, in-person work environment. The Assistant Controller assists with budgeting, managing the daily accounting operations, ensures accurate financial reporting, and supports the Controller in maintaining compliance with all local, state and federal requirements. This is a full-time position with room to grow and take on more responsibilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities To be successful, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Assist with timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting. Perform bi-weekly payroll processing. Process accounts payable and payment processing. Prepare customer invoices and monitor accounts receivable balances. Analyze and evaluate annual quotes for Insurance policies. Data entry within Quickbooks and internal hauling software database. Perform accounts receivable payment check batch processing and bank deposits. Maintain all required Local and State Hauling reports. Monitor and evaluate current vendor costs to ensure favorable pricing. Assist with preparing annual company budgets. Monitor and evaluate residential and commercial service rates. Run financial reports and reconcile general ledger balances. Assist with annual wage increase and bonus calculations for all employees.

Experience Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements Strong command of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal control frameworks. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or working toward certification is preferred. Desired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products. Clear and effective communication skills. High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail. Experience working with Quickbooks is preferred. State of Minnesota reporting compliance and familiarity with state and federal payroll and employment policies. Office/desk job Multiple hours of sedentary work Position Type / Expected Hours of Work / Wage Range This is a full-time salaried, exempt position generally scheduled 40 hours per week and not eligible for overtime pay. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday; generally, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Salary range is $95,000 to $110,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
