Company Overview Sho-Me Power Electric Cooperative, a Generation & Electric Transmission Cooperative and its subsidiary, Sho-Me Technologies, LLC are committed to making Missouri a better place to live and work by providing low-cost, reliable electricity and telecommunication services throughout the state.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Controller to assist lead our financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, tax compliance, budgeting and forecasting, audit coordinator, insurance liaison, and executive support. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee accounting functions, manage financial reporting, and support the cooperative's growth initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong Electric Cooperative industry experience, proficiency with accounting systems/software, and exceptional leadership skills to drive financial excellence. Responsibilities Establishes and maintains systems and controls which verify the integrity of Sho-Me Power and subsidiaries accounting systems. Reviews and implements new accounting software. Supervise monthly accounting activities of Sho-Me Power and subsidiaries. Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards. Supervises and monitors the daily activities of Sho-Me Power and subsidiaries' Financial Services employees. Conducts annual evaluations of accounting personnel and makes staffing recommendations. Assists with the preparation of the income tax return for Sho-Me Power and subsidiaries. Ensures compliance in all areas of tax payment and preparation including, but not limited to: sales, use, property, and payroll. Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management. Responsible for coordination of Sho-Me Power and subsidiaries annual financial statement audit and works with other external auditors as needed. Serves as liaison between insurance carriers, Sho-Me Power and its members regarding insurance claims, self-insurance pool reimbursements and preparation of claims history for insurance bidding documentation. Assists Chief Financial Officer and performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
