MANUFACTURING CONTROLLER

Piedmont Metals is seeking a Manufacturing Controller to support and lead the accounting and financial operations of our growing manufacturing organization. This is a hands-on, mid-level leadership opportunity for an accounting professional who wants to take the next step in their career, build their leadership experience, and help develop the accounting function at Piedmont Metals. The ideal candidate has strong general accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, and is interested in growing into a broader Controller role. Manufacturing and cost accounting experience is a plus , but we are also open to someone with strong accounting fundamentals who is eager to learn and grow with the company. Key Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including general ledger, AP, AR, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Support and lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. Prepare financial statements, reports, KPIs, budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis. Support manufacturing cost accounting, inventory accounting, product costing, and production variance analysis. Monitor labor, material, overhead, and inventory costs and help identify opportunities for improvement. Assist with cash flow, working capital, and overall financial reporting. Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Help build, develop, and support the accounting team as the company grows. Partner with Operations, Production, Purchasing, HR, Sales, and leadership on financial and business decisions. Support annual audits, tax filings, and relationships with external accounting partners. Improve accounting processes, reporting, and ERP systems. Provide financial analysis and support for pricing, capital expenditures, production decisions, and other business initiatives.

Qualifications Required:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 4-7 years of progressive accounting experience. Experience in a Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or similar role. Strong understanding of general accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close. Experience with ERP/accounting systems. Strong Microsoft Excel and financial analysis skills. Ability to lead, organize, and develop accounting processes and team members. Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred:

Manufacturing or industrial accounting experience. Cost accounting experience. Experience with inventory accounting, product costing, or production variances. Experience with manufacturing ERP/MRP systems. Budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling experience. CPA or progress toward CPA. Experience helping build or improve an accounting team or department. Physical Requirements Ability to work at a computer for extended periods. Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to walk through manufacturing and warehouse areas as needed. Ability to safely work around forklifts, cranes, and other manufacturing equipment. Ability to wear required PPE when entering production areas.
