Vice President of Student Services Location Lumberton, NC Job Type Full-Time Staff Job Number 00232 Department Instruction and Support Services Opening Date 03/27/2026 Closing Date 4/10/2026 5:00 PM Eastern Description Benefits Description Under the general direction of the College President, the incumbent serves as the Chief Student Services Officer and is responsible for comprehensive student services planning, policy development, and budget development/management, which may include, but is not limited to, the following areas: Admissions and Records, Commencement, Assessment, Disability Resources Center, Extended Opportunity Programs and Services, Financial Aid/Scholarship, Matriculation, Student Activities, Student Health Services, Transfer Center, Miliary Affiliated Resource Center, Community Outreach/Recruitment, Special Programs, Student Recruitment, Retention and Athletics. The VP maintains the departments' operating budgets, serves as the college lead on student advising and mentors other staff and faculty on the necessary components that support student recruitment and retention as well as the student success agenda inherent in the College's mission vision and goals. Detailed Work Activities The incumbent has the following duties and responsibilities: Provides collaborative leadership, guidance and direction for all assigned areas. Fosters a collegial relationship among colleagues and partners. Implements/supervises student success/completion initiatives for the College. Creates an inspiring work environment that encourages positive staff morale and identifies and supports professional development opportunities within the division and college as a whole . Ensures compliance with State and Federal Statutes, e.g., DOE, FERPA, ADA, reports, etc., and SACSCOC areas of responsibility. Identifies and implements a strategy to automate processes/workflows and eliminate redundancies within the division to provide ease and clarity in support of the "one stop" model of services for students. Creates a comprehensive recruitment and communication plan with strategies to increase enrollment by targeting specific populations and audiences, collaborating with marketing, and presenting plans to accommodate enrollment and retention growth. Proactively monitors student enrollment and utilizes various data sets to identify both recruitment and retention strategies and trends to make informed recommendations pivotal to the sustained growth of the College. Works synergistically with faculty and staff to make informed recommendations to senior leadership regarding options for expansions in the offerings of the College in regards to programs of study and courses . Oversees the certification of student enrollments and student completions and graduations. Oversees and provides for continued compliance with all Financial Aid regulations and requirements. Oversees and provides for coordination with other academic units in the development and implementation of admission requirements and of the credit course schedule. Leads and/or participates in the development of the academic calendar. Assists with developing a comprehensive marketing portfolio to "brand" the division in a manner congruent with the "brand" of the College as defined by the director of marketing. Executes plans to grow the options for student engagement on-campus, as well as the number of students actively participating in on-campus clubs, organizations, and campus events. Manages the College's operations, implementation, and maintenance of student information systems. Provides, monitors, and reports data related to student access, success (persistence and retention) and informs enrollment management of such to collaborate on an enrollment management plan. Supervises academic advising to include the advising center as well as training for faculty and staff. Establishes programs for the orientation of new student services staff as well as provides employee development opportunities supported by the core values of the College. Recruits, orients, and provides success plans for direct reports and staff. Directs students to appropriate campus resources and workforce development programs. Serves as a student advocate with special direction for at-risk, developmental, or other students with academic concerns. Monitors individual grade point averages and attendance; monitors Academic Alerts; collaborates with Financial Aid regarding satisfactory Academic Progress, as appropriate. Actively represents assigned programs in the College's planning, decision-making, and budget development and management processes. Coordinates and allocates resources through the budgeting process and ensures monthly balanced budgets. Acts as a liaison with community partners, schools, and peer institutions to meet their needs and strengthen assigned programs. Participates in various committee assignments. Identifiesgrant opportunities that advance instruction, director/faculty professional development, new technologies, innovations, and student learning initiatives Performs other duties as assigned by the President. Qualifications The incumbent must meet the following minimum qualifications: Education Master's degree in Education, Educational Administration, or other relevant program from a regionally accredited institution. Experience Five years of progressively responsible leadership experience that includes supervision of multiple departments or programs in higher education or a related field. Possess demonstrated leadership skills and a minimum of five years of administrative experience. Other Qualifications Must be able to demonstrate critical thinking skills, resourcefulness, and excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Proven ability to effectively lead and supervise staff. Understands data driven decision-making.
