We're Hiring:
Assistant Controller / Senior Accountant | Statesville, NC (On-site) Read all the way to the bottom • Lindner Recyclingtech America is the U.S. subsidiary of the Lindner Group, delivering market-leading industrial shredding and recycling equipment across North America. We're a lean, agile team of roughly 18 people, and we're actively expanding beyond equipment sales into multi-million-dollar, plant-scale systems. Full-Time, Exempt The Opportunity We're seeking a senior, hands-on Assistant Controller / Sr Accountant to lead our finance function alongside our existing Accountant. This is a unique role that combines direct operational work with senior influence - you'll share day-to-day accounting duties while owning financial reporting, tax coordination, intercompany operations, and strategic advisory for management and our foreign parent company. Key Responsibilities Accounting & Financial Reporting hands-on operational responsibility for month-end and year-end close with senior sign-off Prepare monthly reporting packages, financial statements, and performance updates for the parent company and executive team Manage inventory and machine cost accounting (landed costs, freight capitalization, margin tracking by machine/parts/service) Oversee intercompany accounting and revenue recognition for multi-period, plant-scale projects Financial Planning & Analysis Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and active cash flow planning Conduct segment/product-line margin analysis and provide data-driven pricing support to sales Deliver clear variance analysis detailing the root drivers behind financial performance Treasury, Tax & Risk Management Oversee banking relationships, liquidity, and daily cash management Coordinate federal, state, and sales/use tax filings alongside external advisors Manage corporate insurance programs (renewals, coverage evaluations, claims) and work with outside counsel on commercial contracts Ensure proper cost accounting for imports, tariffs, and customs in partnership with operations Controls, Systems & Leadership Maintain lean internal controls, documented processes, and clear separation of duties Serve as the functional owner and driver of continuous improvement for our ERP system Partner closely with the Accountant, providing prioritization, senior guidance, and support during high-volume periods Act as the primary financial voice for North American operations to external advisors, banks, auditors, and global parent leadership
Qualifications & Skills Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required (CPA or MBA preferred). 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years as a Sr Accountant, Assistant Controller, Controller or equivalent.
Industry Background:
Demonstrated background in manufacturing, capital equipment, industrial distribution, or construction. Comprehensive inventory and cost accounting experience is required.
Technical Skills:
Strong capability with ERP systems and advanced Excel. Knowledge of project/percentage-of-completion accounting and intercompany transactions with a foreign parent company is highly preferred.
Mindset & Communication:
Comfortable working hands-on in a lean team environment. Confident communicator capable of challenging decisions, articulating financial concepts to non-finance partners, and holding firm positions with senior stakeholders.
