The Controller will be responsible for building and maintaining the financial systems, reporting, forecasting, controls, and analysis necessary to support PRO's continued growth. This is not simply an accounting position. We are looking for a financial leader who can translate numbers into actionable business decisions. The Controller will work directly with the CEO and leadership team to understand profitability, manage cash flow, improve forecasting, evaluate capital investments, and provide the financial visibility needed to scale the company. The ideal candidate combines strong accounting fundamentals with an operational mindset and is equally comfortable reviewing financial statements, building a cash-flow forecast, analyzing contract profitability, or helping the CEO evaluate a major equipment purchase. Key Responsibilities Cash Flow & Working Capital Own the accuracy and integrity of company financial reporting. Lead monthly and year-end financial close processes. Produce timely monthly financial statements and management reporting. Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts. Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and accounting processes. Coordinate with outside CPA firms on tax planning, year-end reporting, and compliance. Develop and maintain appropriate internal financial controls. Cash Flow & Working Capital Maintain a rolling 13-week cash-flow forecast. Monitor cash position, accounts receivable, accounts payable, debt obligations, and working-capital requirements. Improve AR collection visibility and processes. Help leadership anticipate seasonal cash requirements. Manage financial relationships with banks and lending partners alongside the CEO. Budgeting & Forecasting Lead the annual budgeting process. Maintain rolling revenue, expense, profitability, and cash forecasts. Produce monthly budget-to-actual reporting. Identify significant variances and work with department leaders to understand corrective actions. Build financial models for growth initiatives and major business decisions. Operational & Job-Costing Analysis Develop reliable reporting for profitability by service line, customer, contract, branch, and market. Analyze labor, materials, subcontractors, equipment, and other major cost drivers. Partner with Operations and Sales leadership to improve estimating assumptions and gross margins. Develop financial reporting around snow events, seasonal contracts, landscape maintenance, and other service lines. Identify margin leakage and opportunities to improve operational profitability. Capital &• Equipment Planning• Maintain visibility into company debt and equipment obligations. Develop equipment replacement and capital-expenditure planning. Evaluate purchase versus lease versus finance decisions. Build ROI analyses for major equipment, facilities, and expansion investments. Assist leadership in determining appropriate capital allocation. Leadership & Strategic Finance Serve as the primary financial partner to the CEO. Participate as a member of the leadership team. Build financial dashboards and KPIs that provide leadership with actionable information. Help department leaders understand the financial impact of their decisions. Support expansion into new markets and service lines. Assist with acquisition modeling, due diligence, integration, and financial analysis as PRO's acquisition strategy develops. Continuously improve financial systems and processes as the company scales. Success in this position will include: Monthly financial reporting completed accurately and consistently by the 10th business day. Reliable 13-week cash-flow forecasting. Clear visibility into profitability by service line, branch, and major customer. Accurate annual budgets and rolling forecasts. Improved AR performance and working-capital visibility. Reliable job-costing information available to Operations and Sales. Capital purchases supported by financial analysis. Leadership receiving useful financial insights rather than simply historical financial reports. Financial infrastructure capable of supporting continued growth toward $10M+ in annual revenue. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred. 5+ years of progressive accounting or financial-management experience. Strong understanding of GAAP and financial statement preparation. Experience managing month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow planning. Strong Excel and financial-modeling skills. Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting platforms. Experience with job costing, project accounting, or service-based businesses strongly preferred. Experience in construction, landscaping, snow removal, field services, transportation, equipment-intensive businesses, or similar industries is highly desirable. CPA or CMA designation is valued but not required. Experience supporting acquisitions or multi-location organizations is a plus.
