This role partners closely with company leadership and project managers to ensure strong financial performance, accurate job costing, and reliable reporting that supports operational decisions. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys building processes that help teams operate efficiently. Key Responsibilities Oversee all GAAP financial reporting and accounting operations Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes Manage and improve job costing systems , including cost codes, change orders, and purchase orders Provide financial insights and reporting to leadership and project managers Oversee progress billing, CIP reporting, and intercompany transactions Review and approve bank and credit card reconciliations Analyze project costs, invoices, and expenses to identify cost control opportunities Prepare financial statements and present financial analysis and forecasts to leadership Oversee payroll tax filings and compliance Manage vendor relationships and subcontractor invoice processes Support year-end tax preparation and coordination with external CPAs Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning Establish and maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures Mentor and support accounting staff as the organization grows Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 7+ years of accounting experience , preferably within construction or project-based industries Strong understanding of job costing and project accounting Experience with Sage or similar construction accounting software Experience overseeing financial reporting and accounting operations Excellent communication skills and ability to work with leadership and project teams Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Preferred Experience with percentage-of-completion accounting Experience supporting construction project financial management Prior experience in a Controller or accounting leadership role What Makes Someone Successful in This Role Process-oriented mindset with a focus on improving systems and reporting Ability to collaborate effectively with operations and project teams Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Comfortable working in a growing and evolving organization
