full-time The Controller is responsible for managing all accounting and financial activities. This position oversees the company's financial records, budgeting, cash management, payroll administration, financial reporting, tax compliance, and internal controls. The Controller works closely with ownership and department managers to provide accurate financial information that supports operational and strategic decision-making while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Financial Management Maintain the company's general ledger and accounting records. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial reporting. Monitor company cash flow and prepare cash forecasts. Analyze financial performance and identify trends. Prepare financial reports for ownership and management. Assist ownership with financial planning and business strategy. Budgeting & Forecasting Develop and maintain annual operating budgets. Monitor departmental spending against budgets. Prepare financial forecasts and projections. Analyze variances and recommend corrective actions. Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. Ensure timely payment of vendors. Monitor customer accounts and collections. Maintain positive relationships with vendors and customers regarding financial matters. Payroll & Benefits Administration Oversee payroll processing for accuracy and compliance. Ensure payroll taxes are properly reported and paid. Coordinate payroll-related benefit deductions. Maintain payroll records in accordance with applicable laws. Banking & Cash Management Reconcile all bank accounts. Manage company banking relationships. Coordinate financing and lending requirements. Monitor cash balances and liquidity. Prepare borrowing base reports when required. Compliance & Tax Reporting Coordinate annual financial reviews or audits. Prepare or assist with federal, state, and local tax filings. Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Maintain compliance with payroll, sales tax, and other regulatory reporting requirements. Maintain accounting records in accordance with company retention policies. Internal Controls Develop and maintain effective accounting procedures. Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency. Safeguard company assets through proper internal controls. Monitor compliance with company financial policies. Leadership Supervise accounting personnel. Train and mentor accounting staff. Establish departmental goals and performance expectations. Promote teamwork and continuous improvement.
