Job Description

Finance Director Town Hall

• Rye, NH 03870 The Town of Rye is seeking a qualified and motivated professional to serve as Finance Director. This is a full-time position with benefits. This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing the Town's financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, accounting, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with New Hampshire statutes, Department of Revenue Administration requirements, GAAP, and GASB standards. The Town has total voted appropriations of approximately $16.8 million, and the Finance Director plays a key role in managing these resources efficiently and transparently. The Finance Director works closely with the Town Administrator, Select Board, Budget Committee, and all municipal departments, serving as a critical resource for financial planning, budget development, reporting, and audit preparation. The position oversees Finance Department operations and supervises any Finance Department staff and contracted support. Additional duties include managing internal financial controls and cash management, coordinating with external auditors, overseeing financial software and systems, and managing compliance with state and federal grants.

Minimum Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of municipal fund accounting, financial systems, budgeting, and internal controls Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, and communication skills Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, public administration, or a related field, or a combination of education and relevant experience that demonstrates comparable knowledge and skills At least five years of related experience, preferably in municipal or other public-sector finance; experience with New Hampshire municipal finance and DRA reporting is strongly preferred

Salary:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
