For further information, visit www.raritanval.edu . Raritan Valley Community College has an anticipated opening for an Executive Director of Finance & Controller. This administrative position is directly accountable to the Associate Vice President of Finance. It ensures the professional delivery of services to students, parents, and other members of the College community. The position requires a working knowledge of computerized accounting systems and the ability to relate to, and serve the needs of, senior administrators with regard to College finances and technology.
Essential Duties:
Supervision:
Responsible for the oversight of the budgeting and financial resources of the College. Maintains accountability for the coordination and operation of all financial information systems required. Provides budgeting and financial expertise during collective bargaining negotiations.
Staff:
Supervises 12 members of the Office of Budget & Finance.
Regular Assignments:
Coordinates the preparation of all the required schedules for the College's annual audit and 990 tax returns and regularly interacts with external auditors. Prepare financial statements and footnotes. Coordinates the preparation of all the required schedules for the Foundation's annual audit and 990 tax returns, along with external auditor interaction. Prepare financial statements and footnotes. Assist the AVP Finance in the preparation of schedule for the College's annual operating budget and supports that effort with special analyses as required. Assist in control of College spending against the budget in support of established critical success factors. Provides underlying information for the preparation of monthly financial statements. Summarize variances for cash receipts and disbursement on the monthly Treasurer's report for the Board. Review Federal, State, and local financial grant reports and audits. Ensures the accurate recording of student tuition and fee rates and dissemination of changes to the appropriate College personnel. Assist AVP Finance in developing policies and procedures affecting the College's operations, including asset/liability management and internal controls. Other duties as assigned by the President and Associate Vice President for Finance.
Liaisons:
New Jersey Community College Business Officers Affinity Group (NJCCBOAG) National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) BANNER Users Group Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in accounting or business management required. Must exhibit demonstrable expertise in accounting principles and systems. At least 7 -10 years of experience required in managing an accounting department and preparing financial statements. Experience with computerized financial systems required. Incumbent must exhibit fair and courteous behavior in performance of his/her duties and present a good public image as a representative of the College.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's of Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting or CPA license is preferred. Prior work experience at a community college or in higher education preferred. Prior experience using BANNER is preferred. As a New Jersey First Act Employer, new employees must establish a primary residence in New Jersey within one year unless an exemption applies.
