Controller | Manufacturing | Morris County, NJ We are recruiting for a Controller with established, growing companies in their background, or recent experience managing accounting for private equity portfolio companies. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who can take ownership of the accounting function, improve processes, develop staff, and partner closely with senior leadership. The right candidate will be comfortable working in a lean, entrepreneurial environment and getting into the details when needed.
Key responsibilities may include:
Leading monthly close, financial reporting, and general ledger activities Overseeing budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial planning Managing cost accounting, inventory, and operational reporting Supervising and developing accounting staff across A/R, A/P, payroll, and general accounting Strengthening controls, processes, and reporting accuracy Supporting audits, tax preparation, banking, insurance, and other external relationships Assisting with ERP upgrades, systems implementations, and process improvements Providing financial insight to ownership, the CFO, and operational leadership Manage cost accounting and inventory analysis Ideal background: 5+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience Controller or strong Accounting Manager experience within manufacturing environments Experience in a small to midsize companies Strong budgeting, forecasting, and operational accounting skills Proficient with cost accounting and inventory management Advanced Excel and strong systems aptitude Proven ability to train, mentor, and hold staff accountable Excellent communication skills and a proactive, hands-on style Experience with ERP systems beyond QuickBooks This role is primarily on-site, and offers high visibility to ownership with opportunities to make meaningful impacts on the growth of the business.
