Duties Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive budgets aligned with organizational goals and strategic initiatives. Conduct detailed cost analysis and forecasting to inform financial planning and resource management. Prepare accurate financial reports, including variance analyses, budget performance summaries, and regulatory submissions. Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and precise financial statement preparation in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards). Oversee cash management activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury functions, and bank reconciliations. Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), regulatory requirements, and internal controls related to financial reporting and accounting systems. Lead and manage accounting teams responsible for general ledger reconciliation, regulatory reporting, and technical accounting issues. Maintain expertise in governmental accounting standards for non-profit organizations or public entities as applicable. Utilize advanced spreadsheets, accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms for data analysis and reporting. Support internal audits by providing detailed documentation of financial processes and controls. Skills Strong knowledge of SOX compliance requirements and IFRS standards; familiarity with GAAP is essential. Extensive experience in non-profit accounting, governmental accounting, or public sector finance preferred. Proficiency in managing cash flow, treasury management, and financial software tools such as MIP, Sage, Xero, or equivalent systems. Demonstrated ability in financial report writing, account reconciliation (including balance sheet reconciliation), and account analysis. Advanced Excel skills for data analysis, forecasting models, and spreadsheet automation; experience with Excel data analysis is highly desirable. Proven leadership skills in managing accounting teams; ability to motivate staff while ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines. Deep understanding of technical accounting concepts like double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, cost accounting analysis, and financial close processing. Knowledge of international accounting standards (IFRS), regulatory compliance accounting practices, and international financial reporting requirements. Excellent analytical skills combined with strong attention to detail; ability to interpret complex financial data into clear reports. Effective communication skills for preparing comprehensive financial reports and collaborating across departments on budgeting initiatives.
