POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Corporate Controller is responsible for the financial and accounting operations of FTDC and assigned subsidiaries or related entities, including Tule Enterprises or other entities as assigned by the Board. The position oversees accounting records, financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, cash management, audit support, financial analysis, debt and contract monitoring, and finance-related policy implementation. The Corporate Controller supervises the Bookkeeper and coordinates outsourced finance, CPA, payroll, tax, audit, and accounting services as approved by the Board. The position supports FTDC's retail, administrative, corporate, project, and cannabis-related financial activity.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Direct and oversee the day-to-day finance and accounting operations of FTDC and assigned subsidiaries or related entities. 2. Maintain and improve a documented system of accounting policies, accounting procedures, internal controls, approval workflows, purchasing controls, close calendars, document retention, and segregation-of-duties practices. 3. Supervise, train, evaluate, and support the Bookkeeper and any assigned finance staff, interns, temporary staff, or contractors. 4. Manage outsourced finance, accounting, payroll, audit, tax, and consultant functions as approved by the Board and ensure that outsourced services are documented, cost-effective, and accountable. 5. Maintain the general ledger, chart of accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue records, encumbrances, payroll coordination, bank records, fixed assets, and accounting files. 6. Ensure timely bank reconciliations, cash reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, deposit records, merchant account reconciliations, vendor payments, required debt payments, tax deposits, and other recurring finance tasks. 7. Prepare, review, and present timely monthly financial statements and financial status reports, including budget-to-actual reports, revenue and expense summaries, cash position, AP/AR status, debt status, and material variances. 8. Lead the annual budgeting process in coordination with the Executive Director, business-unit managers, HR, the Treasurer, and the Board of Directors. 9. Develop and monitor cash flow projections and recommend corrective action when liquidity, working capital, or operational cash flow requires attention. 10. Prepare financial analysis for capital investments, construction projects, major purchases, pricing decisions, vendor or service contracts, expansion opportunities, gaming-related planning, and other Board decisions. 11. Coordinate annual audits, external reviews, tax filings, financial reporting requests, and information requests from auditors, CPA firms, legal counsel, lenders, insurers, Tribal authorities, or other authorized parties. 12. Monitor debt levels, debt payments, lease obligations, contract financial terms, reporting requirements, and compliance with any debt covenants or Board-approved financial commitments. 13. Support business-unit managers with finance training, financial reports, inventory control information, POS reporting, cash handling expectations, purchasing procedures, and budget accountability. 14. Coordinate with HR regarding payroll, benefits cost information, workers compensation reporting, job costing, staffing cost analysis, wage/classification cost impacts, and employee-related financial reporting. 15. Coordinate finance-related controls for Desert Embers and other cannabis-related activity, including revenue records, cash controls, inventory-to-sales reporting, tax-related documentation, audit trails, and reporting under Tribal Title 17 and FTDC/Tule procedures. 16. Assist with finance-related review of RFPs, contracts, insurance requirements, bonds, grant or loan documents, project budgets, change orders, progress billings, payment applications, and lien/claim release documentation. 17. Recommend benchmarks and key performance indicators for corporate operations, specific divisions, and subsidiary companies. 18. Protect FTDC value by maintaining confidentiality of financial, personnel, business, contract, cannabis-related, legal, and other sensitive information. 19. Provide accurate and timely financial information to the Treasurer, Executive Director, and Board of Directors and attend Board meetings as requested. 20. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS 1.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field is required. CPA, CMA, CGFM, MBA, or other relevant advanced certification or degree is preferred. 2. At least five (5) years of progressively responsible accounting, finance, controller, audit, or business financial management experience is required. 3. Experience with financial statements, monthly close, budgeting, bank and cash reconciliations, internal controls, audit coordination, AP/AR, payroll coordination, cash management, and financial analysis is required. 4. Supervisory experience or demonstrated experience managing finance staff, consultants, contractors, or outsourced finance functions is preferred. 5. Experience with QuickBooks or comparable accounting software is required. Experience with POS systems, payroll systems, bank portals, spreadsheet analysis, and document management systems is preferred. 6. Experience with tribal government, tribal enterprises, multi-entity accounting, retail/fuel operations, cannabis operations, or audit preparation is preferred. 7. Must have a valid Nevada Driver License, be insurable under FTDC insurance policies if travel is required, and pass background checks and other screenings required by FTDC policy, Tribal law, or applicable business-unit requirements.

- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgets, internal controls, cash management, AP/AR, payroll coordination, audit support, and transaction-processing operations.
- Ability to design and maintain practical internal controls and segregation-of-duties processes in a small organization with multiple business lines.
- Ability to produce timely, accurate, and understandable financial reports for business managers, the Executive Director / General Manager, the Treasurer, and the Board of Directors.
- Ability to analyze financial statements, budgets, variances, cash flow, project budgets, and financial risks and communicate findings clearly.
- Ability to supervise, train, and support finance staff while maintaining accountability, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
- Strong spreadsheet, accounting software, document management, and technology skills.
- Ability to coordinate with auditors, CPAs, contractors, vendors, banks, lenders, insurers, legal counsel, Tribal officials, and business-unit managers.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn Tribal Title 17 financial, tax, audit, and documentation implications for marijuana business activity.
- Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, and deliver accurate work in an environment with competing priorities and interruptions.
- Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds and to maintain cultural sensitivity in all FTDC operations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Works primarily in an office environment with frequent computer use, financial analysis, meetings, and interruptions. May travel between FTDC locations, Tule/Desert Embers locations, bank or auditor meetings, project sites, and Board meetings as needed. May be required to work evenings or weekends during monthly close, audits, budget preparation, Board meetings, project deadlines, or urgent finance matters. Requires frequent sitting, viewing computer monitors, keyboarding, use of spreadsheets and financial systems, and occasional lifting or carrying up to twenty-five (25) pounds of files or supplies. Pay:
$103,948.53 - $112,517.24 per year
