Controller Reports To:
General Manager/CFO Position Summary:
The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the Buffalo Club, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in accounting practices. This role manages daily financial activities, prepares reports for management and the board, and supports strategic decision-making to maintain the club's financial health.
Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting :
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for management and board review. •
Month-End:
Perform monthly close including bank recs, financial statements and analysis.
Budget Management :
Develop, monitor, and analyze annual operating and capital budgets.
Accounts Oversight :
Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable and member billing processes.
Compliance :
Ensure adherence to GAAP, tax regulations, and club policies.
Audit Coordination :
Liaise with external auditors and provide necessary documentation.
Cash Flow Management :
Monitor daily cash balances, investments, and banking relationships.
Staff Supervision :
Lead and mentor accounting staff, fostering professional growth and efficiency.
Systems & Controls :
Maintain internal controls and recommend improvements to financial systems.
Board Support :
Provide financial insights and presentations to the Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
Qualifications:
Education :
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience :
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Industry Knowledge :
Experience in hospitality, clubs, or non-profit organizations a plus.
Technical Skills :
Proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft Excel, budgeting and financial modeling.
Soft Skills :
Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, leadership, and communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to regularly lift and carry up to 30lbs over a course of a shift (trays). Must be able to periodically lift and carry up to 50 lbs. over the course of a shift. Will be occasionally required to perform job functions outdoors and be exposed to sun, heat, humidity and other elements. Must be able to continuously stand and walk a minimum of 8 hours. Must be able to bend, kneel, push and pull over the course of a shift. Must have ability to perform continuous repetitive motions.
Pay:
$75,000.00 per year
