Job Description

About Us We are a fast-growing commercial finance brokerage that helps businesses secure the funding they need to grow. Working with a nationwide network of lenders and referral partners, we facilitate financing solutions across multiple lending products while managing a high volume of commission-based transactions. We're looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Controller to oversee our accounting operations, improve financial processes, and help support the continued growth of our organization. Position Summary The Controller will oversee all day-to-day accounting and financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, timely payments, and strong internal controls. This individual will play a critical role in managing complex commission structures, lender participation accounting, cash management, and maintaining the financial health of the organization. Key Responsibilities Oversee all Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions Manage commission calculations and payouts for: Internal sales representatives External referral partners and Independent Agents Collect ACH fees on successfully funded transactions Reconcile all company bank accounts and investigate discrepancies Monitor cash flow and maintain accurate daily cash reporting Reconcile deposits received from lending partners and funding platforms Manage lender participation accounting, including tracking purchased participations, distributions, repayments, and reconciliations Ensure accurate revenue recognition across multiple funding products Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Maintain the general ledger and oversee month-end and year-end close Develop and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls Coordinate with outside CPA firms for tax preparation and annual financial reporting Assist leadership with budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and strategic planning Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred but not required) 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in financial services, lending, banking, or a commission-based business Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles Experience managing high-volume commission accounting Advanced Excel skills Experience with QuickBooks and/or other accounting software Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment High level of integrity and attention to detail Preferred Experience Experience with one or more of the following is a plus: Commercial lending or business finance Merchant cash advance (MCA) Equipment financing SBA lending Factoring or asset-based lending Revenue-based financing Financial services or brokerage accounting What We Offer Competitive salary Performance-based bonus opportunity Health benefits Paid Time Off Retirement plan Opportunity to help build and improve the financial infrastructure of a rapidly growing company Collaborative, entrepreneurial work environment If you're someone who enjoys creating structure, improving processes, and taking ownership of an organization's financial operations, we'd love to hear from you.
