Job Description

Robert Half is seeking an experienced Controller for a mid-sized nonprofit organization headquartered in Suffolk County, Long Island with operations across multiple states. This role is ideal for an accomplished accounting professional looking to step into a strategic leadership position while remaining hands-on in financial operations.

The Controller will oversee the organization's financial management, reporting, and accounting operations while serving as a key member of the executive leadership team. The role requires strong nonprofit accounting experience and knowledge of New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) funding.
Responsibilities:
Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, financial reporting, and internal controlsSupervise and mentor a team of 5+ accounting and finance staffPrepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsProvide financial analysis and reporting to support executive leadership and strategic planningParticipate as a member of the executive team on financial planning and organizational initiativesAssist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysisPerform reimbursement analysis and ensure compliance with funding requirementsEvaluate and improve financial systems, processes, and internal controlsServe as the primary contact for external auditors and manage audit preparationLead or support special projects and organizational initiatives
