Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a construction accounting professional who understands the unique financial requirements of commercial construction and is ready to take on a key role supporting the Controller and overall financial operations of our company. Duties Assist Controller with all aspects of the company's accounting and financial operations Oversee and support accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general ledger activities Maintain accurate job cost accounting and ensure costs are properly coded to projects Prepare and review monthly Work in Progress (WIP) schedules and financial reports Assist with percentage completion accounting Review project profitability, costs to complete, committed costs and anticipated project margins Perform monthly accounting reconciliations and assist with month end and year end closing processes Prepare financial statements, management report and other financial analyses Monitor cash flow, receivables, payable and project related cash requirements Assist with subcontractor compliance, lien waivers, insurance certificates and payment processes Analyze job performance and investigate significant budget to actual variances Assist with annual audits, tax filings, insurance audits and banking requirements. Provide support and backup to the Controller as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with commercial construction or the general contracting industry Strong understanding of construction job-cost accounting and project financial reporting Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities Experience with WIP schedules and percentage of completion accounting Advanced excel skills and comfort working with large amounts of financial data Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, able to multi-task, meet critical deadlines with an eye for accuracy and attention to details Ability to work with all levels of project staff and organization Experience with AIA Billing, Sage 300 Construction and Procore a plus.Additional Information:
