Full-Time Our nonprofit client is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the organization's accounting and financial operations. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing the month-end and year-end close processes, and ensuring strong financial controls and reporting.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including AP, AR, general ledger, payroll, and cash management Manage and oversee the month-end and year-end close processes Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reports Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate account reconciliations Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and cash reconciliations Develop and maintain strong accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls Assist with the preparation and monitoring of the annual operating budget Work closely with leadership on financial planning, forecasting, and reporting Coordinate the annual audit and serve as a key point of contact with external auditors Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and nonprofit reporting requirements Monitor restricted and unrestricted funds and ensure appropriate accounting and reporting Oversee grant accounting and reporting, as applicable Provide financial analysis and insight to organizational leadership Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems, and efficiencies Support leadership with special projects and financial analysis as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience Previous Controller or senior accounting leadership experience Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting Experience with audits, budgeting, and financial statement preparation Experience with fund accounting and/or grant accounting is a plus Strong Excel and accounting/ERP system skills Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities EB-1591529059
