About This Role Controller About Us Houlihan Capital, LLC is an employee-owned valuation, financial advisory, and investment banking firm. We help clients make better decisions through rigorous financial analysis and strategic guidance. The Role We're hiring a Controller to lead our finance function and grow into a senior finance leadership role. You'll manage our books, ensure regulatory compliance, and partner with our CEO and Board on strategic decisions. This is a hands-on role where you'll own financial reporting, accounting operations, and process improvements — with real opportunity to expand your scope as we grow. What You'll Do Prepare and review monthly financial statements, GAAP-compliant reports, and regulatory filings (FOCUS, SSOI, SIPC). Manage month-end close, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and annual budgeting. Oversee annual audits and financial reviews for broker-dealer and consolidated entity. Build financial models and analyze cost reduction, pricing, and capital allocation opportunities. Present financial insights and recommendations to the CEO and Board. Mentor junior finance team members and recommend process improvements. Evaluate and implement financial technology solutions and automation tools. What You'll Need 7-10 years of experience in accounting, finance, or compliance roles. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field (or equivalent professional experience). Deep knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Proficiency in QuickBooks and modern financial tools. Strong ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-finance leaders. Proven track record of identifying process gaps and implementing improvements. Nice-to-Have FINRA Series 79, 24, or 27 licenses. Experience in broker-dealer or investment banking finance. Familiarity with ERP systems, business intelligence platforms (Power BI, Tableau), or financial automation software. Experience with AI-powered financial analysis or reporting automation tools.
