Manufacturing Operations Location:
Dayton, Ohio Area Schedule:
Onsite Position Summary A growing manufacturing organization in the Dayton, Ohio area is seeking an experienced Controller to lead all plant-level accounting and financial operations. This senior leadership role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, supporting operational performance, and partnering closely with plant leadership to drive business results. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in manufacturing finance and cost accounting, along with the ability to provide strategic financial insight in a fast-paced production environment. Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Accounting Oversee all general ledger functions, including month-end and year-end close processes Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed asset accounting activities Reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure proper financial documentation and controls Coordinate audit support activities with external auditors and corporate finance teams Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Finance Maintain and enhance standard cost accounting systems and variance analysis processes Analyze labor, material, and overhead costs to identify trends and improvement opportunities Partner with operations and supply chain leadership on cost reduction and efficiency initiatives Support inventory valuation, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning Lead the annual operating budget process in collaboration with department leaders Prepare rolling forecasts, financial models, and budget-to-actual variance analyses Provide financial insights and scenario analysis to support strategic decision-making Internal Controls & Compliance Develop and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and financial integrity Ensure compliance with financial policies, accounting standards, and applicable regulations Identify control deficiencies and implement corrective actions as needed Maintain documentation of accounting processes, procedures, and controls Leadership & Business Partnership Serve as a strategic financial partner to plant leadership and operational teams Present financial results, forecasts, and key insights to senior leadership Lead, mentor, and develop plant accounting and finance staff Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience Minimum 3 years of experience within a manufacturing environment Strong knowledge of cost accounting, standard costing, and manufacturing finance Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and ERP system experience Thorough understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards Experience leading and developing accounting or finance teams Preferred Prior experience as a Plant Controller or Assistant Controller Exposure to lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives Experience within a corporate reporting environment Core Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities High attention to detail and financial accuracy Effective communication skills with both financial and operational teams Proven leadership and team development capabilities High level of integrity and professionalism Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment #
