Job Description

The Controller is essential in maintaining records and reporting the assets, liabilities, income, expenses, tax liability, or other financial activities within the organization. This position works with financial information that requires confidentiality and proper safeguarding. The Controller ensures adherence to various accounting standards and tax laws. Responsibilities Monitor and analyze accounting data including providing recommendation to improve procedures Perform general cost accounting, accounting records, and other related duties in daily administration of business Prepare monthly financial statements to include preparation of monthly balance sheet, income statement, report on changes in financial position/budget variances, and maintain all related records Report to management regarding the finances of Moore Industries, Inc. Identify inventory items with standard costing issues, and research BOM set up and work center overhead costs to determine and fix the issues Review and approve post inventory transactions daily Review BOM changes, and calculate and roll costs to standard as needed Maintain general leger to include the preparation of journal entries, coding of invoices, account analysis and reconciliation, closing books monthly, and setting up new accounts Perform bank reconciliations monthly, verify all deposits and disbursements, address questions and problems from banking institution Maintain payroll recording and allocation after payroll is processed Maintain accounting records for fixed assets Create, maintain, and report variances on budgets and implement forecasting Assist outside CPA firm at year-end to include preparing schedules, invoices, providing explanation of supporting materials and procedures, and preparing any other necessary data Annually file all appropriate tax forms and report with government agencies Maintain and update records of all financial documents with appropriate supporting material. Prepare inventory evaluations and update accounting records as needed Prepare and analyze data related to daily production operations Recommend, design, and implement any necessary department controls. Preferred Education and Experience Bachelor Degree in Business Administration with Major in Accounting/Finance or related field Previous work experience as Controller/Supervisor required Previous experience in Manufacturing or related setting preferred Ability to manipulate large amounts of data Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations Detail oriented with high level of attention to financial accuracy Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills
