Overview Join our dynamic municipal team as a City Clerk Treasurer, a vital leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial operations, accounting functions, and administrative duties of the city government. Must have bachelor in accounting and a CPA is preferred. Duties Lead the city's accounting functions, including general ledger management, balance sheet reconciliation, accounts payable and receivable.. Oversee financial reporting processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), , and other regulatory standards. Manage treasury functions such as cash management, banking relationships, and investment activities to optimize liquidity and financial stability. Prepare comprehensive financial statements, reports, and analyses to inform decision-making by city officials and stakeholders. Ensure regulatory reporting requirements are met accurately and timely, including budget submissions, audit coordination, and compliance documentation. Supervise and manage the finance team, fostering professional development in areas like governmental accounting, cost analysis, technical accounting, and financial software systems. Conduct internal audits, account reconciliations, and cost accounting analysis to maintain the integrity of financial data. Support budgeting processes by providing forecasts, variance analysis, and financial insights aligned with strategic city goals. Skills Extensive knowledge of governmental accounting standards, including GAAP and IFRS; familiarity with non-profit accounting is a plus. Strong understanding of financial concepts such as double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, account reconciliation, and financial close processing. Proficiency with financial software systems and spreadsheets; expertise in Excel data analysis for detailed financial review. Experience managing accounting teams within a public or governmental context; demonstrated leadership in finance team management. Ability to perform complex financial analysis, forecasting, and budget development aligned with municipal needs. Knowledge of regulatory compliance accounting practices including SOX controls and regulatory reporting requirements. Excellent skills in financial report writing that clearly communicate fiscal health and operational insights to diverse audiences. Proven ability to manage treasury functions such as cash management strategies and accounts receivable/payable processes effectively.
