Competitive salary based on experience Position Summary FBF Energy Operating is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to support the Controller in overseeing the accounting operations of multiple oil and gas entities. This individual will play a critical leadership role in ensuring timely financial reporting, improving accounting processes, mentoring accounting staff, and maintaining strong internal controls. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, solution-oriented, and capable of independently managing complex accounting responsibilities while thriving in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Close Process Lead and assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes Review journal entries and account reconciliations Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules Ensure timely and accurate reporting across multiple entities Analyze financial results and investigate variances General Accounting Oversee General Ledger integrity Review Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, revenue, and JIB accounting Maintain prepaid, fixed asset, and depreciation schedules Assist with bank reconciliations and cash management Ensure proper accruals and accounting treatments Oil & Gas Accounting Review Joint Interest Billing (JIB) Review revenue accounting processes Assist with owner relations accounting Monitor production-related accounting Ensure proper recording of LOE and capital expenditures Leadership & Process Improvement Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows Develop and document accounting procedures Mentor and support accounting staff Assist in implementing accounting system improvements Strengthen internal controls Support audits and external reporting Operational Support Participate in budgeting and forecasting Assist with cash flow planning Complete special projects as assigned Collaborate across departments to improve financial operations Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting required CPA preferred but not required 5+ years of progressive accounting experience Oil & Gas accounting experience required Experience with: General Ledger Accounts Payable Accounts Receivable Revenue Accounting Joint Interest Billing (JIB) Financial Reporting Month-End Close ODA Accounting Software experience strongly preferred Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
