Current Situation Selco is transitioning its accounting function back in-house after an outsourced controller model.

Financial data from prior years requires review and improvement Processes and structure need to be strengthened The accounting team will be rebuilt under new leadership This role offers a unique opportunity to take ownership of the accounting function and build it the right way. Role Overview The Controller will take hands-on ownership of Selco's accounting function, with a focus on improving accuracy, building structure, and creating a reliable financial foundation for the business. This is not a maintenance role —it is a build-and-own role . The Controller will work closely with the owner and leadership team to improve financial visibility, decision-making, and operational discipline. Key Responsibilities Accounting Ownership & Accuracy Ensure accuracy and reliability of financial data Review historical accounting and improve data integrity where needed Maintain general ledger and accounting records Close Process & Reporting Establish and execute a disciplined monthly close process Prepare and analyze financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) Deliver timely, actionable financial reporting to leadership Process & Controls Build and improve accounting processes, policies, and internal controls Reduce reliance on manual work and inefficiencies Ensure compliance with accounting standards Team & Structure Lead the rebuild of the accounting function Hire and manage A/R role Oversee outsourced A/P Set expectations, accountability, and structure within the department Hands-On Execution Actively support A/R, collections, and credit decisions Assist with transaction processing as needed Be directly involved in daily accounting operations Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 5-10+ years of progressive accounting experience Experience in manufacturing / inventory-based business Strong knowledge of financial statements and GAAP Advanced Excel skills Experience with ERP/accounting systems Database (Access, SQL, FileMaker) experience is a plus What We're Looking For Someone who wants to build , not just maintain Comfortable working in a hands-on, mid-sized business environment Able to balance detail work with process improvement Takes ownership and accountability for results Communicates clearly with non-accounting leadership Why This Role High level of ownership and visibility Opportunity to build and shape the accounting function Direct impact on how the business operates and makes decisions Work closely with ownership in a growing company
