Summary of thePosition:
As a Controller you will be responsible for planning and directing the accounting operations of the Nestucca Ridge Family of Companies. You will oversee the people and processes of the day-to-day operation of the Accounting Department.Key Accountabilities:
Oversee the people and processes of the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, monthly, and annual financial statements, and bank reconciliations. Supports the Director of Accounting in the preparation of periodic financial statements, activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets. Owns Standard Operating Procedures documentation. Ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) or international financial reporting standards. Oversee training programs and identify training needs. Ensure proper inventory practices are being upheld by all locations. Advise business units on and assist with implementation of accounting and budgeting policies. Execute recommended benchmarks that will be used to measure the company's performance. Provide financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations. Ensure all files are organized and ready for audit upon request. Monitors budget vs actual variances. Escalate to Director of Accounting when needed. Work with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements. Highly collaborative with leadership and communicate key levers to improve margins. Train and develop finance and operations teams on financial acumen and policies.Requirements:
Preferred Skills:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or business Administration. Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred. 5+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in the hospitality/restaurant industry Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Prioritize conflicting needs; handle matters expeditiously, proactively, and follow-through on projects to successful completion, often with deadline pressures. Demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability. Be a forward-looking thinker who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions. Advanced level interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including employees, managers, and vendors.
