Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller with a strong background in construction accounting to lead and oversee all financial operations of the company. This individual will play a critical role in guiding financial strategy, maintaining internal controls, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting to support operational efficiency and continued growth. The ideal candidate is a CPA with proven leadership experience, a deep understanding of construction financials, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for senior management. Key Responsibilities Lead all accounting and financial operations, including general ledger, job costing, Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting, and financial reporting Prepare and present accurate, timely financial statements and performance reports to senior leadership Oversee and manage job cost tracking, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control Maintain and continuously improve Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP (percentage-of-completion) Develop, implement, and enforce internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and construction-specific financial requirements Lead budget development, monitor performance against budget, and recommend corrective actions Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash flow management Manage banking relationships, financing, and lending compliance Coordinate with external partners including CPAs, auditors, and other tax professionals Oversee preparation and organization of documentation for tax filings and audits Manage payroll processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy Oversee worker's compensation and unemployment claims in coordination with HR Support employee benefits administration, including IRA enrollment Provide strategic financial insight to support short

  • Required Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field 7+ years of accounting experience, with significant experience in construction accounting Strong knowledge of: Construction accounting principles (job costing, WIP, revenue recognition) GAAP and financial reporting standards Budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis Experience with construction management and accounting software Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders
