Job Description

Pleasant Ridge Manner is a leading provider of comprehensive rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care, recognized for delivering high-quality medical attention tailored to individual needs. We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Assistant Controller to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in corporate and non-profit accounting, with a strong foundation in financial management, regulatory compliance, and technical accounting practices. As an integral part of our organization, you will oversee financial reporting, ensure adherence to regulatory standards, and support the financial health of our operations through accurate analysis and reconciliation. Lead the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and ensure timely reporting. Manage general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and month-end closing processes with precision. Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and bank reconciliations regularly to maintain data integrity. Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and assist with internal audits. Support regulatory reporting requirements related to LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), securities law, and governmental accounting standards. Mentor and develop junior accounting staff, fostering continuous improvement in technical skills such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, and other accounting software. Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits and ensure all documentation is accurate and complete. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of financial concepts including accrual accounting, double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and financial report writing. Extensive experience with SOX compliance, LIHTC programs, and governmental or non-profit accounting standards. Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms. Strong knowledge of GAAP principles along with technical accounting expertise including securities law and estate law (wills & trusts). Demonstrated ability to interpret complex financial reports and perform detailed financial analysis. Excellent skills in balance sheet reconciliation, journal entries, bank reconciliation, and account analysis. Proven leadership capabilities with experience mentoring accounting teams in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with tax regulations and regulatory reporting requirements related to public accounting or private equity sectors. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial modeling and data analysis.
