Full-Time Sienna Mercato, a multi-concept restaurant and hospitality group located in Downtown Pittsburgh, is seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to oversee the company's accounting and financial operations. This is not a remote or purely strategic position. We are looking for someone who understands the day-to-day financial demands of the restaurant industry and is comfortable being directly involved in accounts payable, financial reporting, cash management, reconciliations, and overall accounting operations. Position Overview The Controller will be responsible for managing the company's accounting functions, with a primary focus on Accounts Payable, financial reporting, month-end close, and maintaining accurate and timely financial records . The ideal candidate has significant restaurant accounting experience and hands-on experience with Compeat and/or Restaurant365 (R365) . Key Responsibilities Oversee and manage the complete accounting function for a multi-unit restaurant operation Manage and oversee the Accounts Payable process, including vendor invoices, payment schedules, aging reports, and vendor relationships Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements and management reports Manage the month-end and year-end closing process Perform bank, credit card, payroll, and general ledger reconciliations Monitor cash flow and assist ownership with weekly cash management and payment priorities Review Accounts Payable aging and develop recommendations for vendor payments and cash requirements Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and financial records Work closely with ownership and management to provide meaningful financial analysis and reporting Analyze food, beverage, labor, and operating costs Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning Ensure proper accounting procedures and internal controls are followed Coordinate with outside accountants, tax professionals, banks, and vendors as necessary Identify accounting inefficiencies and implement improved systems and processes Assist with payroll and other financial administration as needed Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable financial regulations Required Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the restaurant or hospitality industry Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or Senior Restaurant Accountant experience preferred Strong hands-on experience with Compeat and/or Restaurant365 (R365) is required Extensive Accounts Payable experience Experience preparing and analyzing restaurant financial statements and P&Ls Strong understanding of restaurant accounting, including food and beverage costs, labor costs, inventory, and prime costs Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks, Excel, and accounting systems Experience with restaurant POS and payroll systems is a plus Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment Highly detail-oriented with excellent follow-through Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with ownership and senior management Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is proactive, organized, and comfortable taking ownership of the accounting department. The successful candidate will not simply produce reports—they will understand the numbers, identify issues, follow up on outstanding items, and provide management with clear and accurate financial information to support decision-making. Restaurant experience is extremely important. The Controller must understand the fast-paced nature of hospitality operations and the importance of accurate, timely financial information. Experience with Compeat and/or Restaurant365 is strongly preferred and will be a significant factor in the selection process. Compensation Competitive salary based on experience, qualifications, and restaurant accounting background.
