We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller to manage our day-to-day accounting operations and monthly financial reporting. This position may be performed remotely, on a hybrid schedule, or in person from our South Jersey administrative office. Remote candidates must be available during Eastern Time business hours and able to travel to South Jersey periodically for onboarding and important meetings. This is a hands-on accounting role—not a purely supervisory position. The successful candidate will personally perform and review accounting work while helping us strengthen our financial reporting, controls and processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the monthly close for multiple legal entities and practice locations Prepare and review monthly financial statements and practice-level P&Ls Perform and review bank, credit-card and balance-sheet reconciliations Prepare journal entries, accruals and account adjustments Reconcile intercompany receivables, payables, advances and management charges Maintain debt, fixed-asset and depreciation schedules Review the coding and allocation of shared expenses Assist with accounts payable, payroll accounting and cash management Produce consolidated and location-level financial reports Investigate financial variances and unusual account activity Work directly with company leadership and outside tax CPAs Help improve Sage Intacct workflows, reporting and internal controls Prepare schedules and supporting information for tax filings and year-end reporting Document accounting procedures and improve the monthly closing process
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in accounting required At least five years of progressive accounting experience Experience personally managing a complete monthly close Strong understanding of accrual accounting and financial statements Excellent bank and balance-sheet reconciliation skills Multi-entity or multi-location accounting experience strongly preferred Experience with intercompany accounting strongly preferred Sage Intacct or Quickbooks Enterprise experience strongly preferred Healthcare, dental, medical practice or other multi-location experience preferred CPA or CMA preferred but not required Strong Excel skills Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote environment
WORK ARRANGEMENT
The position may be remote, hybrid or in person.
Remote candidates must:
Work primarily during Eastern Time business hours Maintain a secure and private home workspace Be available for video meetings and regular communication Travel to South Jersey periodically, particularly during onboarding Be authorized to work in the United States
COMPENSATION
Expected base salary: $90,000-$120,000, depending on experience, qualifications and the level of responsibility the candidate can assume.
