• Full-time We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Assistant Controller to lead the financial operations for a privately owned manufacturer located in Rockford, IL.

This is a critical role for a financially savvy, detail-oriented, and forward-thinking professional who thrives in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced finance professional who excels at both day-to-day financial management and long-term strategic planning. You'll play a dual role....hands-on in daily accounting operations and strategic in guiding executive decisions through deep financial analysis. As a member of our leadership team, you'll oversee all financial functions, drive financial performance, and provide key insights to support business growth. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage all accounting and finance operations , including month-end/year-end close , reporting , GL , and account reconciliations Own the annual budgeting , forecasting , and financial planning process Develop, implement, and monitor financial policies and internal controls Ensure compliance with GAAP , tax regulations, and legal standards Direct and mentor accounting/finance staff and ensure cross-functional collaboration Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to the President and ownership to support business goals Build and maintain detailed financial models , scenario analyses, and long-range plans Analyze business performance, cash flow, margins, and capital investments to support profitable growth Serve as a strategic business partner across departments (especially operations, production, and sales) Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA strongly preferred) 5+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience Deep expertise in accounting and financial analysis Strong business acumen and experience supporting executive decision-making Advanced proficiency in Excel and ERP/accounting systems (experience with manufacturing ERPs preferred)
