Compensation:
150,000-175,000 + bonus Comprehensive benefits Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join a large and growing government contractor and oversee critical general ledger accounting operations. This position will play a key leadership role in managing the monthly and quarterly close process, maintaining compliance with government contracting regulations, supporting audits, and driving process improvements across the accounting function. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting management experience within a complex government contracting environment, with deep knowledge of DCAA regulations, indirect rate structures, SOX compliance, and Costpoint ERP systems. This individual will partner closely with finance leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day general ledger accounting operations and supervise accounting staff Manage and coordinate the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules Review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and variance analyses Support annual financial statement audits and coordinate audit requests with external auditors Maintain compliance with DCAA regulations, FAR/CAS requirements, and internal government contracting policies Assist with SOX compliance efforts, including documentation, testing, and remediation of internal controls Oversee indirect cost allocations, rate calculations, and related accounting activities Partner with FP&A, contracts, and operations teams to ensure accurate project and cost accounting Lead accounting systems enhancements, integrations, automation initiatives, and process improvement efforts Support ERP administration and optimization efforts within Deltek Costpoint Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and best practices Provide mentorship, training, and leadership to members of the accounting team Assist senior finance leadership with strategic initiatives and special projects as needed Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience within the government contracting industry Prior accounting management or supervisory experience required Strong knowledge of government contracting regulations including DCAA, FAR, and CAS Experience managing indirect rate structures and indirect accounting methodologies Hands-on experience supporting SOX compliance and internal controls Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and corporate accounting practices Experience with Deltek Costpoint required Experience supporting ERP implementations, integrations, or system enhancements preferred CPA certification strongly preferred Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization
