This is a hybrid position based near one of our Minneapolis, Phoenix, or Las Vegas offices. The successful candidate will have progressive corporate accounting experience, preferably in the Architectural, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry with a multi-office firm. We're seeking a team player with experience working with accounting software — experience with Deltek Vantagepoint is a plus. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Controller will work closely with department and business leaders and manage the corporate accounting team. They should be highly motivated and thrive in a collaborative workspace, driving change with a continuous improvement mindset. What you will do Oversee accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements Evaluate accounting and internal control systems to meet goals and create efficiencies Maintain internal controls and safeguards for revenue, costs, program budgets, and actual expenditures Coordinate external audit activity Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements Develop and monitor business performance metrics Manage the month-end and year-end close process Oversee regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance Analyze financial data and present financial reports accurately and on time; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Assist with the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review financial plans against actual results, identifying, explaining, and correcting variances as needed Support the CEO in developing and monitoring financial operating models and delivery Manage organizational cash flow forecasting Leverage the strengths of current finance team members, clarify roles and responsibilities, and develop/implement training programs to help the team reach its full potential Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications across the organization; help create and promote a positive, supportive work environment What we look for Bachelor's degree required in business or accounting; MBA preferred CPA or CMA preferred 10+ years of corporate accounting and finance experience, with 2+ years managing a team preferred (experience in a public accounting/audit capacity is considered equivalent to working in a corporate accounting capacity) Experience within the AEC industry highly desired Strong technology, analytics, and management experience Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint preferred Strong Microsoft Excel experience required; familiarity with Power BI preferred Great attention to detail and excellent oral/written communication skills Self-starter with strong ethical standards Ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects and deadlines $128,000 - $210,000 a year Compensation provided is based on our national range which varies by work location and may also depend on accreditation, experience and responsibilities.
